Austria's Got Talent III is the Austrian national selection for International Music Festival 29. The show will be hosted in Salzburg and presented by Conchita Wurst for the second time in a row, who also won International Music Festival two times. For the first time, there will only be a final consisting of eight songs. This was after a poll was created to determine whether the countries would prefer only one show, or as usual, three shows, and the majority voted for one show and thus from this edition and on, there will only be one show. Daria Kinzer will be present in the competition again, making a record of participating three times in a row.
Presenter(s)[]
On 17 July 2015, ORF announced Conchita Wurst as the host of Austria's Got Talent III. Wurst stated she was very honored and happy to be able to host the event, surprisingly again. This will mark the first time Wurst has hosted an event independently. Her previous hosting experiences were not independent due to not having enough experience, but by now she has gained enough.
One show format change[]
Due to the lack of voters in the shows, for example in the 2nd edition, there were more voters in the semi-finals than the final, a poll was made whether the countries would prefer just one show or the usual three-show format. The majority voted for only one show, and therefore from this edition and on, Austria's Got Talent will consist of one show. An Austrian expert jury panel will, from now on, shortlist the songs to a yet unknown number.

Bidding process[]
Salzburg will be hosting the contest following their victory in the bidding process. At first, Salzburg and Vienna were interested in bidding. However, Vienna decided to pull out the bidding shortly after their interest for yet unknown reasons. Klagenfurt submitted the bid with the smallest capacity in AGT history, just 681 seats. Shortly, the venue was eliminated due to unfitting with ORF's requirements. Linz decided to not bid, due to not finding a suitable venue in time. Graz was undecided and Villach also didn't bid due to no suitable venue. It was then official that Salzburg would be hosting the event in August, even though it was quite early. Salzburg were happy to win the bid and has announced that preparations have already started.
